The Green Bay Phoenix women’s basketball team escaped the damp chill of Wisconsin to play basketball in St. Thoms, the U.S. Virgin Islands at the Paradise Jam tournament. In the opening game on Thanksgiving day, the Phoenix jumped on top of the Virginia Cavaliers of the ACC 22-9. They held off a charge to lead 36-27 at the half. But in the second half, Virginia steadily chipped away at the lead and the Phoenix couldn’t muster an answer, falling 68-59. Green Bay was led by Tesha Buck who matched her career high with 24 points. Green Bay (2-1) has two more games in paradise, playing Tulane on Friday afternoon and Rutgers on Saturday afternoon.
