The Marquette Golden Eagles outlasted 17th ranked Providence 96-91 in double overtime at the BMO Harris Bradley Center Wednesday night. Marquette swept the Friars this season, winning 65-64 in Rhode Island last month on Duane Wilson’s game winning jumper. The Golden Eagles twice let leads get away at the end of regulation and the first overtime but Haanif Cheatem hit a pair of baskets early in the second overtime to give Marquette a lead it would not relinquish. Cheatem has 21 points while Marquette was led by Freshman Henry Ellenson who scored 26 points to go along with 12 rebounds. Providence is now 0-10 all time against Marquette in Milwaukee. The Golden Eagles improve to 16-9 overall, 5-7 in Big East play. They will host Creighton on Saturday.
