Several area Girls High School Basketball teams still have a shot to reach the Resch Center for next week’s WIAA State Tournament. In Sectional semifinal play Thursday night, 9th ranked Appleton North defeated number 10 Eau Claire Memorial 61-53 to advance to the Division 1 final against 6th ranked Marshfield which eliminated Neenah 74-71 in overtime. In Division 2, Green Bay Notre Dame needed overtime to beat Pulaski 63-58 behind 17 points from Olivia Campbell. The 4th ranked Tritons are trying to reach state for the fourth time in five years after taking the rubber game against the 7th ranked Red Raiders. Notre Dame will meet second ranked Beaver Dam, a 55-52 overtime winner against Cedarburg, tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 PM at Neenah High School. 5th ranked Hortonville also advanced with a 66-43 win over Merrill. The Polar Bears will play Onalaska for the sectional title in Eau Claire. In Division 3, 10th ranked Wrightstown defeated Kiel 61-52. The Tigers will face Xavier, a 51-48 upset winner over 4th ranked Freedom. That game will be played at Green Bay Preble High School at 1:00 PM. Top ranked Algoma advanced in Division 4 with a 51-40 win over Weyauwega-Fremont. The Wolves face Marathon in Waupaca Saturday night. In Divison 5, Suring defeated Niagara 48-36 and will face Assumption for a trip to state. Sheboygan Lutheran started the tournament just 4-17 but have reeled off four straight upsets, beating Hilbert 50-45 to advance to the sectional final against Fall River.
