After sweeping the lowly Philadelphia Phillies over the weekend, the Brewers couldn’t sustain the momentum, dropping the opener of a three game series with the Miami Marlins at Miller Park Monday night 6-2. After a pair of perfect innings, starter Matt Garza got into trouble, giving up a two run homer to Derrick Dietrich and a two run single to Dee Gordon. Garaza allowed five runs in five innings to fall to 6-13, which is a new career high for losses. Meanwhile, the Brewers offense produced run scoring hits from Shane Peterson and Ryan Braun against rookie Justin Nicolino who lasted six and two thirds in winning his second big league game. The Brewers will sent Tyler Cravy to the mound against Adam Conley Tuesday night. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:35 PM on WTAQ.
Former Brewers manager Ron Roenicke has landed a job. He was hired as a coach by Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly on Monday.
