GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A higher-end hotel proposal near Lambeau Field is getting bigger.
The Legacy Hotel was first proposed for the former Brett Favre Steakhouse site in 2019. At that time, it was going to be five stories with 79 rooms.
It is now planned to be six stories with 100 rooms.
City staff says there’s a need for higher end hotel rooms in the market.
“We do I think have a substantial amount of I think more basic level rooms in the community overall,” said Neil Stechschulte, Green Bay’s economic development director. “The higher end ones that I think are providing a little more of an experience and some additional amenities are a little bit lacking still.”
The city council will vote on the plan next month.
The developers are looking for about $5 million in city assistance through the use of tax incentives after the project is done.
The hotel would open by December 2023.
