GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — A new program aims to reduce the number of false alarms police and firefighters in Green Bay have to respond to.
The False Alarm Reduction program was launched earlier this week in partnership with Texas-based PM AM Corporation.
Police Commander Kevin Warych says it could keep officers and firefighters safer.
“There are so many variables involved in an alarm response,” Warych told WTAQ. “Anything we can do on the front end to keep those calls to a minimum makes it safer for everybody.”
It asks all residences and businesses that have an alarm system to apply for and complete an alarm permit application online. For current alarm permit holders there is nothing that will need to be done other than processing their renewal.
