NEENAH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Neenah Joint School District revised its masking policy.
The Board of Education voted to make masks optional for students, staff and visitors at Shattuck Middle School, Neenah High School and the district office building effective immediately.
This also applies to meetings and activities before, during and after school.
If the percentage of students who are absent due to positive COVID-19 cases exceeds 2% of the student population in the building, masking will again become mandatory.
For grades 4K-6, masking will remain mandatory.
Effective January 3, 2022, masking will be optional at all buildings. This date was chosen based on anticipated availability of the COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 through 11.
Until January 3, all staff, students and visitors will be required to wear masks in these buildings during the school day. Outside of the school day, masks will be optional.
Like the middle and high school, after January 3 masks will be required during the school day at any building that has at least 2% of students absent due to positive COVID-19 cases.
