MENLO PARK, CA (WTAQ-Reuters) — Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced Thursday that the company he founded in 2004 will now be known as “Meta”.
The change was announced in a post made to the social media site.
Zuckerberg says the move was made to focus its ambitions on building the “metaverse.”
CEO Mark Zuckerberg, speaking at the company’s live-streamed virtual and augmented reality conference, said the new name reflected its focus on building this new virtual realm rather than its namesake social media service.
