OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) — Oshkosh Police are investigating a threatening social media post directed at Webster Stanley Middle School.
Police say they became aware of the post at around 8:26 AM this morning after it was shared widely among students at the school.
There was an increased police presence at the school Monday.
Police say the threat is unsubstantiated, but the investigation continues.
The nature of the threat nor the text of the post wasn’t shared in the department’s press release.
“We encourage people not to share/ repost these types of posts but
instead to contact law enforcement if they see a threat on social media,” Officer Kate Mann wrote in that release. “We take threatening posts very seriously and the safety of our students is of outmost importance.”
