GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Some health care workers in Northeast Wisconsin are getting raises.
Hospital Sisters Health System is raising its minimum wage to $15 per hour. Springfield, Illinois-based HSHS owns St. Vincent and St. Mary’s hospitals in Green Bay and St. Nicholas in Sheboygan.
The company says the minimum wage increase will impact about 3,000 total employees, though about half of those are already making more than $15 per hour.
The company pays its minimum wage to many entry-level employees.
“We truly hope this rate increase helps reinforce how much we respect and care about the important work these colleagues are doing around the clock,” said president/CEO Damond Boatwright said in a news release.
“Some of these colleagues are the ones helping keep patient rooms clean. Some help nourish our patients and their loved ones by preparing and serving food in our ministries. They help get our patients registered and checked-in when they arrive for care. And others help with important clinical work that truly makes our organization able to provide the great care that we do. We need more caring people in these roles at HSHS.”
The minimum wage increase begins Oct. 31.
