FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — People were evacuated from homes and businesses near a gas leak in Fond du Lac Monday morning.
Firefighters say they were called to the intersection of Doty and Arndt streets on the city’s north side around 10:45 a.m. Contractors working on a street reconstruction project had hit a gas line.
Alliant Energy turned off power to some nearby customers as a precaution.
The leak itself was stopped just before noon, but the evacuations remained in effect.
Fond du Lac police closed off a four-block area to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
