GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – An overnight business fire that started in an industrial machine, spread to the roof of the building, Green Bay firefighters say.
Crews were called to 600 Liberty St. around 12:30 this morning for a report of a fire.
On arrival, crews noted moderate smoke coming from inside the building with smoke also coming from the exterior dust collection system.
Firefighters made their way inside and quickly extinguished the flames but outside, crews found the fire had extended to the roof.
Firefighters then had to cut open the roof around the dust collection duct and extinguished the fire in the roof around the pipe.
Crews remained on scene for about 90 minutes, checking for hotspots and ventilating the building.
It’s estimated the fire caused about $40,000 worth of damage.
No one was injured. The fire is under investigation.
