ONEIDA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Sports betting will be coming to the Oneida Casino, but not in time for the start of the NFL season Thursday night.
In July, the state and Oneida Nation announced an amendment to the tribe’s gaming compact to allow wagering on sports events. It will be the first such facility in the state.
The federal government recently issued its required approval of the amendment.
However, tribal spokesperson Bobbie Webster told FOX 11 Wednesday some of the necessary equipment is still on back order, and the systems won’t be in place this weekend. Instead, the tribe is aiming for a November launch, but no date has been set.
The tribe has not said how much it expects to be wagered.
