GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — It’s the reason Jon Jeske drives a little less often, and part of the reason he’ll be staying home for the holiday weekend.
“If I use 87 (octane), the cheaper stuff, it’ll be about probably 90 bucks,” said Jeske.
“It doesn’t have to do with gas prices does it?” FOX 11 asked.
“Yes it does,” he answered.
Still, local gas prices are actually lower than the national average. AAA lists the country’s average at about $3.18 per gallon.
Then, in the Northeast Wisconsin region as of Thursday:
- $2.95 in Brown County
- $2.91 in Outagamie County
- $2.89 in Winnebago County

Factors from Hurricane Ida to more people returning to work can impact gas prices, with the latest spikes being attributed to the southern storm.
AAA adds between hurricane cleanup efforts and more storm damage being assessed, gas prices should fall again.
But until then, Jeske will keep his truck off the road as much as he can.
It means he has to “multi-task. Absolutely, make it more convenient so that it’s not as expensive.”
