GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — This has been one of the wettest Augusts on record in Green Bay.
It’s the eighth wettest, specifically. 8.3 inches of rain has fallen.
“We are about 5.14 inches above normal,” says Mike Cellitti with the National Weather Service. “Normal amount for the month is about 3.16 inches.”
The worst of the rain came in a very short period of time.
“We’ve just had periods of really wet, anomalous rainfall,” explained Cellitti on Monday. “We had a period from August 7th through 11th where we had almost five inches of rain.”
The wettest August on record came in 1975, where the region saw over nine inches of rain fall in August.
“The next chance of rain is coming late Thursday night, into Friday,” said Cellitti.
The next few days should see much calmer weather.
