DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A De Pere senator is in stable condition after he was hospitalized with COVID-induced pneumonia last week, his office confirms.
State Sen. Andre Jacque was intubated and placed on a ventilator earlier this week.
In a statement to FOX 11, his office wrote, in part:
While his condition is currently stable, the days and weeks ahead will continue to be an incredibly stressful and difficult time for Sen. Jacque’s family, as you can imagine. Please respect their privacy during what will likely be an extended process. His office will provide updates as warranted.
Last week, Sen. Jacque confirmed he tested positive for COVID-19.
The Republican senator has been outspoken against mask and vaccine mandates throughout the pandemic.
His vaccination status is not known.
