OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Michigan man was arrested after he allegedly tried to meet up with who he believed was an Oshkosh teen for sex, but was actually an undercover agent.
Scott Sundberg, 42, of Ishpeming is facing federal charges following his arrest on Aug. 13.
According to prosecutors, Sundberg began exchanging messages with an individual whom he believed to be the parent of a 15-year-old girl living in Oshkosh. The criminal complaint alleges that Sundberg expressed repeated interest in engaging in sexual activity with the 15-year-old and also sent pornographic images of children engaged in explicit sexual activity.
In fact, the person Sundberg was communicating with was a law enforcement agent working as part of Operation Kick Boxer, a collaborative effort involving the Milwaukee Division of the FBI.
Sundberg was arrested upon his arrival in the area.
The indictment accused Sundberg of using a computer to attempt to persuade, induce, or entice a minor to engage in unlawful sexual activity.
If convicted, Sundberg faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and up to a lifetime of imprisonment.
