GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The Brown County Fair will take time this year to remember one of their own.
Steve Corrigan was the past president of the fair and organizers say he was instrumental to ensuring that the fair took place in 2020 in spite of the pandemic. Corrigan passed away in January. Mike Hoskens is the current president of the fair board says his passing left big shoes to fill.
“He was the driving force last year through all the adversity,” Hoskens said. “I was fortunate enough to learn from Steve over the last six or seven years and get the big picture, but it takes myself and a myriad of volunteers to make this fair go off.”
One of the gates on the rodeo grounds will be named in memory of Corrigan, who was instrumental in the return of rodeo to the fair.
“We put on the entrance to the north end ‘In Memory of Steve Corrigan’, and the riders will ride underneath that,” Hoskens explained.
The fair, which starts Wednesday, will include tributes to Corrigan on Friday and Saturday during the rodeo events.
