(METRO) – If the NHL is allowed to participate in the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, Jon Cooper will be at the helm of Team Canada.
The Tampa Bay Lightning head coach who has guided his team to back-to-back Stanley Cups has been tabbed to handle Canada’s national team. Cooper coached the Green Bay Gamblers during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons.
Cooper will have an All-Star coaching staff should the NHL take part in the Olympics.
Vegas Golden Knights head coach Pete DeBoer, New York Islanders head coach Barry Trotz, and Boston Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy will be part of Cooper’s staff.
The Canadians are looking to make it three straight gold medals.
