GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – As Packers Training Camp officially kicked off this week, fans began looking for ways to watch the team at Lambeau Field this fall.
While training camp traditionally creates a spike in action at Ticket King, Owner James Bryce, Jr. says he has a hard time believing the return of Aaron Rodgers after a rough off-season isn’t going to have an impact.
“A number of people that were waiting on the sidelines to buy, I think that’s definitely where there’s been some people like: ‘I want to see if Rodgers is coming back.’ And that definitely makes a big difference! There is certainly going to be some movement created by him being here, there isn’t any question about it. You have the MVP, and that’s a great thing. My guess is that we’ll see more as the week progresses,” Bryce told WTAQ News. “With him being there and what happens these next few days and as we move in to Family Night, traditionally that’s when we see it year to year. With preseason games approaching, it’s not unusual for us at all for sales to see more action.”
He adds that some fans aren’t sure if Rodgers will be around for much longer – so much like the end of the Favre era, they’re being cautious about holding on to any tickets they might already have to ensure they don’t miss out.
So far, Bryce says sales have been decent in general, especially considering everything Ticket King has dealt with over the past year.
“Maybe the last three or four days, there has been a little bit of an uptick. But it’s hard to compare it to sales in general. Historically, I’d say that sales this year have been a little down, and it makes sense!” Bryce said. “Maybe as the week goes on or into next week, it wouldn’t surprise me to see things gather some steam.”
Family Night is August 7th. The Packers first preseason game is August 14th against Houston at Lambeau Field.
