GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The 18th Annual Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer is set to be held this weekend.
The annual motorcycle ride sets off on Sunday morning with registration starting at 9. Namesake Jerry Parins is a former Green Bay Police officer and Packers Head of Security. He says the money raised goes to organizations that support people undergoing cancer treatment.
Parins, a cancer survivor himself, talked about seeing cancer patients recently at a treatment center.
“It’s really hard sometimes, very difficult to get that smile, or get some voice out of people [with cancer],” said Parins. “Our cancer ride… we give a lot of money and that is to help people within these organizations.”
The ride recently donated $155,000 to eight such groups.
The ride starts Sunday at 11:30 am. It will ride through Green Bay, escorted by Police and Firefighters. Afterwards there will be a tailgate party at Vandervest Harley-Davidson starting at 1:00 pm that will include a raffle, auction, live music, and food trucks.
