WAUPACA, WI (WTAQ) — A fight on a tubing trip down the Little Wolf River in Waupaca led to a shooting that sent one man to the hospital.
Waupaca County Sheriff Timothy Wilz says the shooter and the victim were in tubes when the shooting occurred. The shooter then fled into the woods.
“We believe the suspect is in the Green Bay area,” Wilz told WTAQ. “We’ve contacted the Green Bay Police Department and they are somewhat familiar with the individual.”
The name of the suspect was not released.
Sheriff’s Deputies are now looking for the weapon used in the shooting. The victim, although shot in the head, is expected to survive.
The shooting happened around 4:20 pm on Sunday. Waupaca Sheriff’s Officials had put out a call telling people to avoid the area.
