PORTAGE, WI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating a high-speed crash that has left a 37-year-old Poynette man dead this weekend.
Officers say it started when they received numerous complaints about a red sedan weaving in and out of traffic at a high speed Friday afternoon. The vehicle eventually sideswiped a pickup pulling a trailer near Portage, causing the vehicle to roll into the ditch.
The driver of the sedan was ejected, and his body ended up in the northbound lanes of the interstate. A northbound vehicle then struck him.
Columbia County Sheriff’s officers estimate that the vehicle was traveling at more than 100 MPH.
Officers have not released the man’s name pending notification of family. No other injuries were reported in the incident.
