OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) – UPDATE 7/17: The standoff ended at around 6:00pm on Friday night as Christl peacefully surrendered to police.

UPDATE 7/16: Police have located Christl. A SWAT situation has led officers to block off the 800 block of Jackson Street.
“Right now we have the 800 block of Jackson Street blocked off, just for the safety of the public. Our SWAT team and negotiators are working to resolve this with Mr. Christl,” said Sergeant Todd Wrage. “It is really difficult to make a prediction when we’re dealing with a barricaded individual because it just depends on their mindset, their thought process, and what’s going on in their head at the moment…It’s on their timeline, not ours.”

Oshkosh PD say a man with a warrant for his arrest, who stole a vehicle at gunpoint, is on the loose
According to police, around 6:15 last night, officers stopped a pick up truck in the 900 block of W. Murdock Avenue.
Richard L. Christl II, 38, was a passenger in that vehicle. While police were making contact, they say Christl pointed a gun at the driver and the driver got out. Christl then allegedly got into the driver’s seat and sped off. Police did not follow him.
No one was injured.
The truck is a red 2010 Chevrolet Silverado with Wisconsin license plate SZ7402.
Police say anyone who sees Christl or the truck should not approach him, since he may have a gun. Instead, call 911.
