APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – An early morning fire damaged machinery and products in an industrial building on Appleton’s west side.
Firefighters say they were called to a building in the 2600 block of W. Second Street around 3:30 a.m. When crews arrived, they found smoke coming from an overhead door. Firefighters confirmed a fire in a machine and got everyone out.
With help from the building’s sprinkler system, which had already been activated, crews got the fire under control in about half an hour. It took another 45 minutes to overhaul and ventilate. The fire was contained to the machine and product inside the machine.
The fire and its cause remain under investigation. A damage estimate was not available Wednesday morning.
