LEDGEVIEW, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Firefighters say they will never know what caused a fire that destroyed a building housing a church and bar/restaurant.
Ledgeview Fire Chief Tom Guns says the cause of the fire last Friday night will go down as undetermined because of the extent of the damage.
The building at 1950 Dickinson Road houses the Chicago Street Pub and Grill and New Hope United Methodist Church. Firefighters were called to the building around 5:30 p.m. Friday for a fire in the attic.
Longtime residents of the De Pere and Ledgeview areas remember the building as the Swan Club before it was partitioned into the church and bar/restaurant.
Church leaders say they will meet in the coming weeks to develop plans for the future of the congregation.
According to an online fundraiser, the owner of the Chicago Street Pub plans to rebuild in the location of the current parking lot.
