ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) — The COVID-19 vaccination site at Lambeau Field will close at the end of the month.
Bellin Health’s Sherry Lafond says they’ve known they would have to end the site for some time, as the Packers need the stadium for football season.
As a vaccine site, it’s done well.
“I absolutely would call it a success,” said Lafond. “We vaccinated over 45,000 patients here at Lambeau through this fantastic partnership that we’ve had.”
The wide and available space made the location ideal as a vaccination site.
“Operations went very smoothly for us, we had all the space that we needed,” Lafond told WTAQ. “It was well set up, too.”
The site moved once, from the Lambeau Field Atrium to the skybox area.
Lafond says they’ll be expanding vaccine availability elsewhere to make up for the closure of the Lambeau site.
“We at Bellin will be transitioning our seven-day-a-week vaccine eligibility for walk-ins at our fast-care clinics on the east and west sides [of Green Bay],” said Lafond.
The last day of operation is June 30th.
