GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – It appears the Green Bay Packers will hold more offseason practices without their starting quarterback.
ESPN reports that Aaron Rodgers is not expected to attend the team’s mandatory minicamp, which begins today (Tuesday).
If that is the case, the Packers could fine Rodgers more than $93,000 or waive the fine and mark his absence as excused.
The future hall of famer was not in attendance for organized team activities the last two weeks. Jordan Love and Blake Bortles, two of the other three quarterbacks on the roster, have been getting reps.
The latest development in the rift between Rodgers and the Packers comes after team president and CEO Mark Murphy said in his monthly Q & A column that the situation has divided the team’s fan base.
Murphy said that the team “remains committed the resolving things with Aaron,” with hopes that Rodgers will be the team’s quarterback “in 2021 and beyond.”
Rodgers has not addressed the situation publicly since his comments on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” last month. During an interview, he indicated that his issues with the team are not about players, coaches or fans, but rather about the team’s philosophy.
