OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Salvation Army of Oshkosh celebrated six years of planning. It broke ground on a new community corps center.
In Oshkosh, the Salvation Army offers both a meal program and a food pantry for those in need.
This new addition will double its existing space. The pantry will be renovated along with the cafeteria, child care space, classrooms and more.
The $5 million project is the first time the Salvation Army has had the funds to invest in the Oshkosh facility in nearly 40 years.
“The hard work, it pays off,” Maj. Steven Woodard of the Salvation Army said. “It’s about dedication to say I see something bigger than myself. I see the families and people that are going to be touched by God through the Salvation Army. That gets them excited about that. You can make a difference.”
The project is expected to be completed early next year.
