FOX VALLEY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A heat wave is coming our way. And with high temps ahead, you’ll want to make sure at least a couple of things in your home are working properly – your AC unit and your refrigerator.
The heat and humidity – two things that can make food go to waste quickly, if your refrigerator isn’t up to snuff and, with extreme heat in the forecast, now may not be the time to ignore that noise coming from your fridge.
“Service is also busier than ever, as well too,” Van Vreede’s sales representative Greg Baptist tells FOX 11.
“Part of it is appliances being on backorder right now, so more people are fixing appliances than before.”
But, supply and demand – a couple of other things that can make it a little more difficult getting a new refrigerator, if yours does have to be replaced.
“Consumer demand is way off the charts right now,” said Baptist.
“You’ve got people updating that stuff, you know, more than we typically have seen, and part of it is going to be appliance manufacturers having shortages in regard to getting parts to make this kind of stuff.”
On those hot days, it’s not just your food that you’ll want to keep chilled, you’ll also want to make sure to keep yourself cool. And owner of Black-Haak Heating, Jim Haak, tells FOX 11 you’re not alone in that quest.
“We’re seeing an uptick in replacements, but also it’s just now, with this hot weather, everyone’s kinda just turning them on, and now we’re finding that maybe they didn’t work so well.”
Both AC unit sales and repairs are through the roof at Black-Haak Heating. Right now, they have all the parts needed to make those repairs on the same day they’re called, but that supply could change.
“For the next couple of weeks we’re fine but, after that, it’s kind of anyone’s guess, and I think that’s true with about any industry right now,” said Haak.
“It’s just one of those things where, if you have the opportunity, and you need to get something done and repaired, you want to get it done now, because if you try to wait, it may not be able to happen for quite a long time.”
The same advise applies to refrigerators, as well.
