GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man who killed his companion at an Ashwaubenon hotel was sentenced Tuesday to 40 years of initial confinement.
Dennis Sutrick, 46, was also placed on extended supervision for 15 years. He pleaded no contest earlier this year to first-degree reckless homicide.
According to the criminal complaint, Sutrick called for help after he said he found the victim unresponsive in the bathtub last August.
The victim, whose name has not been released, had bruising on her face, and police found blood and chunks of hair in the hotel room. When asked to explain the injuries, Sutrick gave several explanations. He said she may been injured while the two had sex, or when she fell the day before, and also had issues with her medication. He denied intentionally harming her.
According to the medical examiner, the cause of death “was blunt force injury to the head and neck with evidence of manual strangulation and subdural hematoma. She further opined this was nonaccidental trauma and the manner of death was a homicide,” the complaint states.
