ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Leisure travel is picking up at Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport.
There has been a 46% increase in flights booked for this coming Thursday and Friday.
Travelers are reminded that while mask mandates have ended elsewhere, the federal government still requires masks while traveling. That includes airport terminals and airplanes.
Austin Straubel International Airport Director Marty Piette is asking people to be patient and plan ahead.
“Also, be aware of the connecting airports and just plan ahead. A lot of the restaurants and concession areas have still not reopened in a lot of airports, so just bring some snacks and be aware that you might not have the same amenities that you might be used to.”
While air travel is up compared to 2020, officials say it’s still about 25-30 % lower than 2019.
