MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An argument over who made more money led to a deadly shooting in Two Rivers, prosecutors allege.
Joshua I. Walcott, 19, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, felony bail jumping, possession of a firearm by a felon, attempted sexual assault of a child under 16 and exposing a child to harmful descriptions.
The shooting took place May 17, just before midnight, at a house on 28th Street. The 17-year-old victim was not named in the criminal complaint, but relatives have identified him in an online fundraiser as Malachi Moore.
In the complaint prosecutors allege Walcott and Moore were arguing over who made more money. A witness said the argument grew more intense and the two were getting in each other’s faces. The witness said Walcott grabbed a gun from on top of a dresser and began waving it around, eventually firing the shot that killed Moore.
In an interview with police, Walcott said he and Moore were like “blood brothers.” He admitted shooting Moore and said he wanted to apply pressure to the wound to stop it from bleeding, but “didn’t want to touch itit’s a whole different story when you’re in it”. Walcott told police it felt like he was in a dream. “I don’t understand how it led up to that,” he said, according to the criminal complaint.
The attempted sexual assault charge stems from an incident just before the shooting when prosecutors say Walcott walked in on a 15-year-old girl changing in a bathroom. He asked her for sex, at one point exposing himself, but she refused, prosecutors say.
Walcott is being held on $250,000 bond. He is due back in court June 2 for a preliminary hearing.
