MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The car ferry arrived in Manitowoc around noon Thursday. It then left for Ludington, Michigan around 3 p.m.
Area high school band students welcomed the ferry by playing a song dedicated to Manitowoc’s 150th anniversary.
Thursday’s event and ceremony also marked the first sailing under new management.
“So the Badger, we know how to operate ships. We know how to steam vessels. So that one doesn’t scare us, and it really is a neat service and really a part of these two communities. It’s great to be a part of it,” Interlake Maritime Services President Mark Barker said.
The company also set up a fireworks Thursday night on the Manitowoc lakefront.
