GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Many cities, counties, and villages in Northeast Wisconsin are following the CDC’s new recommendation on face coverings.
The CDC announced those who are fully vaccinated can participate in indoor and outdoor activities, large or small, without wearing a face covering or physically distancing.
“This marks an important milestone in our fight against COVID-19 and recognizes the progress we have made as a community and country through mitigation and vaccination,” said Appleton Mayor Jake Woodford.
Brown County Health Department, De Pere Health Department, the city of Appleton and Oneida Nation agree that if you are fully vaccinated, you may return to all normal activities. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services also says that fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing.
Those who are not vaccinated, are encouraged to schedule their vaccination.
Health officials also want to remind people that the easement of mask-wearing for vaccinated individuals does NOT apply to the following:
- Health care settings
- K-12 Schools
- Places where masks are required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, or regulations, including businesses and workplaces.
- Residents and employees of correctional and detention facilities and homeless shelters.
- Travelers on all planes, buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation traveling into, within, or out of the United States and in U.S. transportation hubs such as airports and stations.
As of May 13, more than 31,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered at the Fox Cities COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic.
Now through May 27, the FCCVC will only administer the Johnson & Johnson vaccine along with scheduled second doses of Pfizer and Moderna.
