GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A group of area hospitals say despite the CDC’s updated mask-wearing recommendation, they will still require everyone to wear a mask while inside their medical facilities.
Bellin Health, Advocate Aurora, Health/Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Prevea Health and HSHS St. Vincent, St. Mary’s, St. Nicholas and St. Clare Memorial Hospitals issued the following statement Friday:
The CDC announced on May 13, 2021, that people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can go without masks indoors and outdoors. However, certain higher risk settings, such as health care facilities, are excluded from this guidance. In alignment with the CDC, masking and social distancing will continue to be required at all our health care facilities to protect the safety and well-being of our patients, visitors and communities
The CDC eased indoor mask-wearing guidance for fully vaccinated people, allowing them to stop wearing masks inside in most places. The new guidance still calls for wearing masks in crowded indoor settings like hospitals, buses, planes, prisons and homeless shelters.
