GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The Packers Schedule is out, and that means the phones are ringing at Green Bay’s Ticket King.
People started making plans within an hour of the schedule being out, according to Ticket King Manager Travis Loftus.
“A half hour after the schedule came out we started getting calls,” Loftus said. “As soon as we had our inventory out there people started snapping them up.”
The biggest game people are calling for? The October 3rd game at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“Their fans tend to travel well,” said Loftus.
There are 8 regular season home games, including that match-up with the Pittsburgh Steelers on October 3rd and a Christmas Day game against the Cleveland Browns.
Loftus says interest in the division rivalry home games against Chicago and Minnesota has been hampered by news that those games will be played at night.
COVID-19 uncertainty is also a concern.
“The Packers just played come on said that they plan on having a full capacity stadium this year, which would be awesome,” Loftus told WTAQ. “But until they give that full green lights were still a little on edge.”
That’s not the only thing keeping Loftus on edge, either. There’s another big point of uncertainty surrounding the Packers this year: and he wears the number 12 jersey.
“The whole [Aaron] Rodgers deal, that’s the main hiccup with us,” admitted Loftus. “It’s a little stress worthy for us if he retires or gets traded.”
If Rodgers, who has had a high-profile rift with the team in recent weeks (allegedly centered on the MVP quarterback’s unhappiness with GM Brian Gutekunst), winds up leaving the team, and Jordan Love or even Blake Bortles is the starting quarterback, Loftus says ticket prices will change.
“Unfortunately, I think that if the Packers don’t have Aaron Rodgers, they go from a championship team to maybe a sub-.500 team, if that,” Loftus opined. “And that would impact the ticket sales for sure.”
The Packers schedule impacts nearly every sector of the local economy and drives thousands of visitors to the area every year.
