GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Eagerly awaiting the release of the Packers Schedule are the folks at the Green Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau.
President and CEO Brad Toll says the schedule release is always an exciting time, but this year it’s especially so after fans weren’t allowed into the games for most of the 2020 season.
“Getting a schedule out, seeing those phones start to ring again and people getting excited about a new football season,” Toll said Wednesday. “It’s really a special time every year.”
Toll says the Packers schedule impacts nearly every sector of the local economy during the season.
“Sometimes it’s moving an event a day or two,” explained Toll. “The same happens for brides that may be holding 2 different weekends. They are finally able to determine which one they’re going to get married on.”
The impact the Packers have on the Green Bay area is massive, and Toll says last year that was made clearer than ever.
“In January when we had playoff games even with just 10-12,000 people we noticed a real boost,” said Toll. “Visitor spending in the area went up, our hotel occupancy jumped up, too.”
It’s not clear what, if any, capacity restrictions will be in place at Lambeau Field this season. The NFL is currently anticipating that most stadiums will be at full capacity.
The schedule is expected to be released this evening.
