APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Fox-Wolf River Basin should be looking much cleaner after Saturday.
That’s because about 1,000 volunteers were out picking up trash.
It was the annual Fox-Wolf Watershed cleanup.
Volunteers were stationed at 68 cleanup sites.
Heather Brockman, the cleanup leader at Alicia Park in Appleton, told FOX 11 they picked up quite a bit.
“We found everything from bottles, cans, unfortunately cigarette buds, a broken cellphone and some weird plastic thing we’re not sure of, but it really helps to make sure that we keep it clean.”
Participants say the event not only helps the health of area waterways, it’s also a great way to meet new people.
