GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — It’s another weekend where you ought to avoid burning.
High winds and dry foliage are coming yet again to create very high fire danger across much of Wisconsin.
“Going into this particular weekend,” Forestry Advisor Catherine Koele said. “I think it’s really important to talk to your local fire officials before doing any burning.”
Overall, Koele says, the snow melt came about two weeks earlier than anticipated and foliage hasn’t fully greened yet, meaning it’s very flammable.
“We do have a little bit of precipitation in the forecast but it’s real spotty,” said Koele. “So we’re kind of keeping an eye on things, day to day.”
High winds in the forecast led officials to classify the fire danger in most Wisconsin counties as either “high” or “very high”.
