MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ) – Paper products near a stove is what caused a fire at a Manitowoc residence early this morning.
Crews were called to the 2300 block of Paul Rd. just after 1 a.m. after a caller reported a fire in their home with flames. The caller also said they were unable to wake the neighbor to get out of the residence.
Upon firefighters’ arrival, all occupants had evacuated safely and the fire was extinguished within 10 minutes.
One resident was taken to the hospital over concerns of smoke inhalation and a first-degree burn to the arm.
After further investigation, the fire was found to have started in the kitchen on the stove top. While boiling water, some paper products nearby caught fire.
