BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A woman charged with drunken driving for a crash that shut down Interstate 43 had a blood alcohol content more than three times the legal limit.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office says test results showed Brenda Tenpas’ BAC was .26. The legal limit for driving is .08.
Investigators said Tenpas was involved in a side-swipe crash on Highway 172 eastbound March 8. She then allegedly continued south on I-43 and lost control near Denmark. Her vehicle went through a cable barrier in the median and hit an oncoming semi. The semi jackknifed and blocked the northbound lanes.
Tenpas, 47, is charged with one count of operating while intoxicated — her fifth or sixth offense — and operating while revoked. She is due back in court Thursday.
