GREEN BAY (WTAQ-WLUK) – A Lawrence woman faces a felony charge for allegedly leaving a dog in a car at Lambeau Field, causing the animal to die of heat exhaustion.
55-year-old Debbie Rohloff made an initial appearance Tuesday. She was released on a signature bond and returns to court August 21st for a preliminary hearing.
Besides the felony count of mistreatment of an animal resulting in death, Rohloff faces a misdemeanor count of intentionally failing to provide food.
She was also ordered not to possess any animals.
The charges stem from an incident on July 12 in the Lambeau Field Parking lot. A golden retriever was found dead in a car due to heat exhaustion. The dog was taken to an animal hospital where it was pronounced dead.
Police said veterinarians tried to check the dog’s core temperature but it was higher than the thermometer could read.
