GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Bay Beach Amusement Park paid homage to the King of Rock and Roll.
It held its annual Elvis tribute Thursday night.
Elvis impersonator Frank Hermans showed up to Bay Beach to sing songs for park-goers. It even had The King’s favorite snack — peanut butter and banana sandwiches — for sale.
The event celebrates the day Elvis rented out the Zippin Pippin as it stood at a park in Memphis, Tennessee on Aug. 8, 1977.
Park manager Jason Arnoldi tells FOX 11 there’s a completely different feel to the park at night.
“It’s special when it’s dark, you have all the lights on, it’s a really cool atmosphere, and let’s hope people come out and enjoy it.”
In years past, only the Zippin Pippin opened but this year, the entire park was open until 11 p.m.
