WINNECONNE, WI (WTAQ) – The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office is investigating incidents of vehicles being shot at while moving. What started as an original report of a family being shot at while coming home from the fair on August 3rd is now a bigger investigation.
Captain Dave Mack of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department says after word got out about an incident involving a family whose vehicle was shot at, they received two more similar reports after.
“They received damage to their windshield that same night in the same area and in the same timeframe.
He says that likely indicates that this was not accidental. He also indicated that the roadway where the occurrences took place is not a very heavily traveled roadway.
“This certainly seems to be an intentional act when you have multiple acts.”
The says the early investigation indicates that the incident was not targeted, but random.
He says this a is case that they would like to solve quickly since anytime anyone is shooting a weapon, it is a serious situation.
“The consequences could have been much more severe than this.”
Anyone who saw anything or hears anything related to the incident is encouraged to contact Det. Kyle Schroeder at 920-236-7376.
