GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Green Bay Police are looking for help in locating the owner of a dog that bit a child over the weekend.
Police say the child was bitten Saturday in the 1100 block of Kellogg Street.
Officers learned that a child asked for permission to pet two dogs that were being walked by a middle-aged white woman. Officers say a smaller 50-pound black dog jumped up and bit the child’s shirt while the child was petting the other dog.
The bite resulted in penetrating punctures.
Police say the owner informed the child that the dogs were both up to date with their shots and then left the area without reporting the incident to police.
Wisconsin state law requires proper rabies verification and a police report after a dog bite incident.
Police are asking anyone who may have information on the owner or the owner herself to come forward, and call Humane Officer Mallory Meves to verify the dog’s rabies vaccination at (920) 448-3200, extension number 0113 or the Green Bay Police Department at (920) 448-3200.
