SHIOCTON, WI (WTAQ) – The Wisconsin DNR cracked down on illegal fish trappers by setting out some bait of their own.
An undercover operation helped them reel in the suspects after they received reports of people illegally catching walleye on the Shioc River.
The wardens were just hoping to find the traps, but they found the trappers themselves.
The men were fined $1,200 dollars and lost all hunting and fishing privileges for a year and will be on probation for some time after that.
