GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ) – A drug raid at a Grand Chute hotel last month has netted what one law enforcement official is calling the largest methamphetamine bust ever in NE Wisconsin.
Nine people are facing charges.
Authorities say the drugs were found in a guest room at the Wingate by Wyndham. Officials say they found 60 pounds of meth, two pounds of heroin or fentanyl and a handgun.
26-year-old Derek Liebergen and 29-year-old Malachi Root are facing federal charges of possession with intent to distribute the drugs. They were also charged with possession of a firearm in furtherance.
According to the criminal complaint, Liebergen would travel from out of state to the Appleton area with a large amount of meth and then sell it out of his rented hotel room.
39-year-old Wayne Stilen was charged with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug crime.
Others arrested for conspiracy to distribute were 35-year-old Sally Miller, 32-year-old Jeremy Ludwig, 39-year-old Kayla Kennedy, 24-year-old Jasmine Gillette, 22-year-old Christopher Ullmer and 23-year-old Peter Thao.
The arrests are believed to have stopped the drug flow for now.
