GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – They are here today and gone tomorrow. Pop-Up Halloween stores are popular this time of year, but Susan Bach of the Better Business Bureau says after October 31, they are hard to reach
The most common reason they want to get ahold of them is to return something, but most stores have a strict return policy and in most cases all sales are final.
“I think stores are wanting to prevent you from purchasing a costume, wearing it once and then returning it.”
Bach says purchasing with that intention is fraud.
However, Bach says if the costume is damaged or missing a piece at the time of purchase, you may be able to at least get your money back if you used a credit card. She says that is because credit card companies can work on disputing the charges.
For those looking to save some money, the BBB says there are other ways
“We suggest you look around the house and see if you can re-purpose an old costume or make your own.”
Costume rentals are also an option and sales are common. Many costumes go on sale right after Halloween if you want to get a jump on next year.
