BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach’s 2020 budget proposal is calling for $11 million to improve roads and bridges in local communities.
Streckenbach says “when we think about infrastructure, it’s the number one issue.”
The goal of the proposal is not only to improve the quality of life in Brown County, but also the safety of the roads. And right now, Streckenbach wants to take matters into the county’s hands.
He says that “while the state and federal government continue to wrestle with debate on how they’re going to do it, in Brown County, we are getting it done. And more importantly, when we’re able to get it done, we’re actually able then to leverage the state and federal dollars.”
With the county planning and financial assistance, Streckenbach thinks the county is set up for success, saying “I’d love to believe Brown County is a leader in the fact that we’ve been able to figure out ways for us to address our infrastructure in Brown County.”
A PASER road and bridge quality rating system will determine how much of those funds each project will receive.
